What’s This About?

You’ll find 3 kinds of content from us that we’re grouping in 3 big buckets (WordPress calls them Categories and that’s how you can find them).

Wise?

Let’s get this straight. We made all sorts of mistakes when we were younger and crazier. But we know better now. It doesn’t matter how well you do, what you create or build, how much money you make or raise, nothing matters if you don’t live well. And to live well, you have to act wisely.

The adjective wise describes someone who has experience and a deep understanding. … When you make a decision based on careful thought and good judgment, you’ve made a wise choice.

Here’s the Hoots & Thomas definition. If you act wisely, you do it well. People are cared for. Values are respected.  You’re thinking about more than this moment, this dollar or this decision.

Our three buckets or categories all are oriented around “wise.” There are many ways to raise money, influence those around you and live your life. We’re about living wisely. We don’t claim to have all the answers but we are in pursuit of doing it well.

Living, leading and doing business wisely is our focus.

Wise Fundraising:

This category of posts contains what we know about nonprofit fundraising. You’ll find everything from high-flying strategy to tactical tips. We know fundraising well. We raise many millions of dollars a year for our clients. You can also save yourself the hassle of reading a bunch of blog posts if you want to buy the book Donoricity. It’s an Amazon best seller and until the movie comes out is a fast way to get a feel for what we know (we’re kidding about the movie, but we’re open to offers). You can also find a whole bunch other content on fundraising at our other company’s website.

Wise Influence:

This category of posts has three primary anchors. You’ll find posts about persuasion, creativity (we are advertising and marketing people after all). And you’ll discover what we think about leadership and the life of “doing business.” We’ve each led companies, staff and boards. We know a thing or three about how to influence people. We’ve also coached more than a few CEOs and other executives through growth and turn-around moments.

Wise Living:

These posts are about what your life is about when you’re not raising money or leading an organization. Here’s where you’ll get even more of a flavor of who we are and how we believe life should be lived. Food, fun and physical stuff. You’ll learn about taking care of your personhood, not just growing your organization.
